Here's an open invitation to readers to post recommended titles. I just finished reading "Garden Spells" by Sarah Addison Allen and it was the perfect book for a snowy Sunday afternoon. Featuring an enchanted tree and the quirky Waverley family, this debut is about relationships, family, food, and more. It is magical, whimsical, and terrific - and also delves into various edible flowers, listing how they can affect behavior. I always knew that the smell of lavender makes me smile - now I know why! Noise level in the library
June 4, 2007 comment: "I almost hate coming to the library anymore - loud conversations, cell phones, etc! The "library" used to be a sanctuary - I still think it should be. I know you don't want to constantly be policing people, but something has got to change."
Response: The decibel level in this library does get high at times. Most days we have over 400 folks coming through the building and that many people in this small space equals big noise.
And you’re right – “something has got to change.” Fortunately this situation is temporary. Late this summer we’ll be moving into Coeur d’Alene’s first brand new public library. Located next to City Hall, our new space is more than four times larger than this one. Ample space will be provided for quiet reading, computer use, conversations, and staff/patron discussions.

Cooperative Information Network
Thank you for the courtesy notice. I appreciate the new (at least to me) system, with email reminders of books in that have been ordered, due date reminders, and the little slips we get at check out that lists all books outstanding and their due dates. I'm also pleased that the Coeur d'Alene Library is now part of the larger CIN, which quite simplifies things for me.
Thanks for your continuing service.

New Books in the Library
The materials budget at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library is relatively small but we still manage to carry a number of new materials. We have all the books on the New York Times and Publisher's Weekly bestseller lists and we purchase items requested by patrons nearly everyday. New items check out rapidly so patrons may not seem them linger on the shelves. However, placing a hold on an item assures that it will be available soon. Please let us know if there are particular items you want the library to purchase. - Bette Ammon, director
